Spray Tan Instructions.
A little prep goes a long way. Follow these steps before, during, and after your Custom Airbrush Spray Tan for the best result.
Before Your Spray
- Exfoliate 24 hours before your appointment for an even application.
- Shave or wax at least 24 hours prior to your session.
- Arrive with clean, lotion-free skin — no deodorant, perfume, makeup, or oils.
- Remove jewelry before your session.
The Day of Your Spray
- Wear loose, dark clothing to your appointment to avoid rubbing the color.
- Skip lotions, deodorant, perfume, and makeup before your session.
- Bring flip-flops and loose undergarments if you prefer.
- Plan to avoid water, sweating, and tight clothing until your rinse time.
After Your Spray
- Classic Formula: wait a minimum of 8 hours before rinsing for full development.
- Rapid Rinse: shower in as little as 1 hour, or up to 4 hours for a deeper tan.
- Rinse in lukewarm water for about 10 minutes to avoid streaks — no soap, no scrubbing.
- Pat dry gently — do not rub.
Maintaining Your Tan
- Moisturize daily with a tan-friendly, oil-free lotion.
- Avoid long hot baths, chlorinated pools, and harsh exfoliants.
- Pat dry after showering rather than rubbing.
- Reapply as needed to maintain your color.

Both are Custom Airbrush Spray Tan formulas. Classic uses a traditional development period, while Rapid allows for a shorter rinse window and more flexibility. Your spray artist will provide the appropriate rinse instructions for the formula you choose.
Follow the Before Your Spray steps above — exfoliate and shave or wax about 24 hours before, and arrive with clean, lotion-free skin. Your spray artist will walk you through anything else at your appointment.
Arrive in loose, comfortable clothing that won't rub tightly against your freshly sprayed skin afterward.
You can wear as much or as little as you're comfortable with during your spray tan. If you choose to wear undergarments, we recommend avoiding silk, satin or nylon fabrics, as spray solution may come into contact with them.
Rinse timing depends on whether you receive the Classic or Rapid formula. See the After Your Spray steps above for the general windows, and your spray artist will give you specific rinse instructions at your appointment.
Avoid activities that cause excessive sweating while your spray tan is developing. Once you've completed the rinse instructions from your spray artist, light activity is fine — just keep moisturizing and avoid tight, rubbing gear.
With proper care and maintenance, a Custom Airbrush Spray Tan typically lasts 7–10 days. Keeping your skin moisturized and following your aftercare instructions will help you get the most from your tan.

Custom Airbrush Spray Tans are individually applied and customized for you, with the goal of creating color that's appropriate for your skin tone rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
Exfoliation and shaving can cause your spray tan to fade more quickly, so it's best to complete your exfoliation and shaving before your appointment following the Before Your Spray steps above.
